Here we’ll take a look at how Genesis shows the creation story and the beauty of marriage.
“I’m a self-made man! I got here by all the things I’ve done throughout my life.” Sound familiar? I’m sure you have either heard a man say this or even said some variation yourself. We tend to think we are in control despite that being far from the truth.
Created With A Purpose In The Beginning
Genesis 2:7 — “Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”
This passage shows us that God was intimately involved when He formed us from the dust of the ground going so far as to breath life into us. We were not an accident or mistake. God took us from dust to a living creature and gave us a purpose.
When The Beauty of Marriage Began
Genesis 2:22 — “And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.”
Here we see God using his hands to make a woman from the rib of Adam. God could have only used dust to make Eve as He did for Adam, but he used a bone from Adam to create something unique.
How Genesis Shows The Beauty of Marriage
Genesis 2:24 — “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Now, we land on the topic of marriage. It would make sense that if God shaped both Man and Woman, He would then also form the union between the two. How many of us can honestly say it’s only God’s fingerprints on our marriages?
Seek God’s guidance for your marriage. You’ll have better communication and healthier marriages. How can we seek God’s guidance? Pray and read His Word! God has given us His Word for instruction and wisdom when facing tough situations as husband and wife. Utilize this means of grace!
