Overcome Your Past With A Renewed Heart

Reading Time: ( Word Count: )

BECOME A BETTER

HUSBAND, DAD, AND LEADER.

You may think you have the corner on the market when it comes to a dysfunctional past. You can overcome your past with a renewed heart from Christ. Everyone has something in their past that they look back on and attribute to their current situation.

1 Corinthians 5:17 — “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Overcome Your Past

Your parents may have been poor, so you think your current financial situation is a direct result of that. But in fact, you may not have pursued a college education or are still working on your career. Give yourself time to grow into what God wants you to be. You may not have the skill set you need yet to take your job to the next level.

Your school years may have been full of neglect and peer pressure, so you may be currently thinking you never get the right attention. Don’t worry about getting attention and focus on being more like Christ in all you say and do. When you start to reflect Jesus, people will notice that there is something different about you and will want to know what it is. They may not always ask, but they are wondering like crazy.

The young adult years may only bring debt and loneliness as younger years were not full of correct financial decisions or communication skills. Be smart about your money and stay on a budget and live within your means. Start working on your communication skills by speaking with people from all walks of life and learning how to respect people.

God’s Plan Prevails

Are you too set in your ways to make any changes to the dysfunction from your past? Not so, my friend, as the Bible is full of adults that God repurposed to use for His Glory. It’s going to take work, patience, support, prayer, and more, but you can overcome dysfunction.

As you can see, we all can look back at different points in our lives and dwell on the brokenness. Or we can look back on that and change how we are going to handle that and pray that God gives us the wisdom and power to make those changes. Do not let your past become a crutch that stops you from being the person God meant you to be.
